German anti-fracing campaigners petition to outlaw technology

BERLIN (Bloomberg) -- German groups campaigning against hydraulic fracturing for natural gas handed a petition of 660,000 signatures to Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks seeking to outlaw use of the technology. “There are no good reasons for fracing but large risks for the environment and people’s health,” Ann-Kathrin Schneider of environmental group BUND said Sept. 30 in a statement as the petition was passed to Hendricks in Berlin.

Statoil awarded new acreage onshore Algeria

STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil and Shell have been awarded the Timissit Permit license in the Illizi-Ghadames basin onshore Algeria. The license is located in southeastern Algeria and covers an area of 2,730 sq km. Statoil bid in partnership with Shell, where Statoil will be the operator with 30% equity, Shell will hold 19% equity and the remaining 51% will be held by Sonatrach.

Atlas Resource Partners enters Eagle Ford through acquisition of oil rich production

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- Atlas Resource Partners (ARP) is to acquire oil assets in the Eagle Ford shale in south Texas for $225 million. The assets consist of 22 producing wells and 19 undeveloped locations containing estimated net reserves of approximately 12 MMboe.
